Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in L.A.

Though it’s not a legal holiday anywhere in the U.S., St. Patrick’s Day is a festive celebration of Irish and Irish American culture that’s been observed in North America since before the American Revolution. On Sunday, March 17 expect to see the traditional color of green splashed across greater Los Angeles as bars and restaurants offer Irish music, food, and of course plenty of Guinness and Irish whiskey. Read on for St. Patrick’s Day events in Los Angeles, and as always please remember to celebrate responsibly.

All of the following events are 21 and over and take place on March 17 unless otherwise noted.

Reilly’s – LAX Terminal 1 (March 11-17, 2019)

Located near Gate 15 in Terminal 1 of LAX, Reilly’s is a cozy Irish pub serving American-inspired comfort food, beers on tap, and craft cocktails like the Mother’s Irish Coffee.

Reilly’s will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with drink specials all week and live performances on the Friday before St. Patrick’s Day:

St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival – Casey’s

On Sunday, March 17, Casey’s Irish Pub (613 S Grand Ave, Los Angeles 90017) celebrates the annual St. Patrick’s Day Street Festival from 11 a.m. to midnight. Spanning four blocks of Downtown L.A., the massive event will feature more than 400 kegs of beer, 1,200 bottles of Jameson, dozens of bartenders, 12 hours of DJ sets, and traditional Irish fare from Casey’s. Casey’s will open at 6 a.m. Entry to the festival is free before 11 a.m. and $20 after. Enter at Wilshire & Flower, tickets available at the entrance.

Nixo Patio Lounge

Located at Luxe City Center Hotel in Downtown L.A., Nixo Patio Lounge (1020 S Figueroa St, Los Angeles 90015) offers spectacular city views under the lights of L.A. LIVE. Chef Ben Diaz is serving St. Patrick’s Day specials from 11:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m:

Bangers & Mash – homemade lamb sausage with mashed potatoes and gravy, green peas $16
Corned beef sliders – Guinness braised corned beef with sweet onions $16
Irish nachos – thick cut chips piled with Tillamook cheddar, sour cream, pico de gallo $15
Steak & Guinness Pie – tender steak pot pie with potatoes, onions, and carrots topped with flaky pastry $17

Grand Central Market

The historic Grand Central Market (317 S Broadway, Los Angeles 90013) goes green with these St. Patrick’s Day specials:

Golden Road will offer $5 pints of Irish Red Ale and Nitro Stout as well as food specials. Whiskey Sunday will perform from noon to 3 p.m.
Belcampo will feature house-made corned beef for your St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The beef comes from their own farm in Mt. Shasta and is organic, ethically raised and harvested, and third-party humane-certified grass fed.
Knead Pasta will offer The Italian Irishman ($13), a featured dish of arugula campanelle, pesto, corned beef hash, and a fried egg.

Brack Shop Tavern (March 16-17, 2019)

Boasting an upstairs game room and a full calendar of live music, Brack Shop Tavern (525 W 7th St, Los Angeles 90014) will celebrate St. Patrick’s Day all weekend with food and drink specials. On St. Patrick’s Day, a bagpiper will play from 1-3pm and The Vignes Rooftop Revival will perform traditional Irish music from 3-6pm.

Seven Grand

Located above the bustling 7th Street corridor, Seven Grand (515 W 7th St #200, Los Angeles 90014) has been DTLA’s whisk(e)y mecca since 2007. Seven Grand will be opening at noon on St. Patrick’s Day, serving up cocktail specials, featured Irish whiskeys, and a special early Whiskey Society with Jameson. No cover.

Corner Cantina

The veggie-friendly Corner Cantina (630 W 6th St, Los Angeles 90017) will be serving a special St. Paddy’s Day Menu on March 17 (regular menu not available). Enjoy Irish Nachos made with seasoned fries, queso, jalapeno, pickled onion, sour cream, and corned beef (nv); Pretzel Bites, 5 pieces served with mustard; Corned Beef Sandwich served on a potato bun with cabbage, pickled onion and mustard (nv), and Saint’s Patty served on a potato bun with Wagyu Beef, cheddar, onion, pickles, and aioli (nv/v).

Public School Restaurant + Bar

On St. Patrick’s Day only, Public School Restaurant + Bar is serving a $7 pint of Mama’s Little Yella Pils with beautiful (and safe) green food coloring. If your lifelong ambition is to be a leprechaun, this is a great way to start! Public School is located in DTLA, Culver City, and Sherman Oaks.
