Where to Eat Navajo Tacos In Globe
Are you dying to try a favorite Arizona dish while you’re in town?
Navajo Tacos are a local specialty, made of Indian Frybread (a yeasty, deep-fried dough, similar to funnel cake), topped with beans, beef, sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, and anything else you want. While they definitely share elements with classic tacos, the frybread changes the dish – you definitely want to try this!
Joe & Aggie’s Cafe
120 W Hopi Dr, Holbrook, AZ 86025

This small restaurant is perfect for the more cautious travelers – those who don’t enjoy particularly spicy or unique dishes, but still want to try local cuisine. That’s not to say the food is bland. Joe & Aggie’s chooses to focus on the inherent flavors of the ingredients without adding excessive amounts of spice. Their Navajo taco is also large, but not overwhelming, a feature you may appreciate if you are staying in the inn, and can’t necessarily bring leftovers home!
Chalo’s Casa Reynoso
902 E Ash St, Globe, AZ 85501

This may be the overwhelming favorite of the Globe area. While there are generally divided opinions on most restaurants, everyone likes Chalo’s. Their Navajo tacos are a great introduction to the dish, big and fluffy with a rich and hearty filling. Be cautious with their hot sauce – it may be significantly hotter than you’re used to, but it is delicious!

This is where you’ll find food reminiscent of what your abuela cooked. Everything is made fresh and served steaming hot. The owners don’t skimp on portions, so come very hungry. The Navajo Tacos are overflowing with toppings, and huge, but perfectly seasoned and amazingly delicious. Check their Facebook page before going – the restaurant is family-owned and shuts down for family emergencies or vacations.
