The 3 Barons Renaissance Fair Is Here!

Live like nobility in olden times at Anchorage’s 3 Barons Renaissance Fair!

3 Barons Renaissance Fair Is Here!

June 8th and 9th at Tozier Sled Dog Track, the Renaissance comes to Alaska, complete with traditional English foods, knights and steeds, and some amazing artisan crafts.

Food

You’ll be able to find a wonderful mix of modern and traditional foods, but the real star of the Renaissance Fair every year is the turkey leg.  A giant monstrosity, slow-roasted and dripping with juices and marinade, it will tease your tastebuds with every bite.  Grab extra napkins, because you’ll need them. When you’re thirsty, you’ll have no issue finding soda or water, but adults can choose to imbibe in ale!

Fashion

While you can certainly wear regular street clothes, if you’re so inclined, you may want to dress up for the occasion.  Anything goes at 3 Barons so be nobility, peasant, pirate, fairy, or anything else you can imagine.

If you are not in possession of appropriate garb, you can visit the dress shop to purchase or rent an outfit.  Just beware of your color choices, for there are three royal courts vying to dominate.

The Three Courts

Three courts meet at the Renaissance Fair every year, hoping to honor their country at the expense of the others.

The English court, represented by Baron Drake and dressed in green, support greed, gore, and surprisingly, literature.

The Venetian court encourages truth and honor and is represented by Baron Fortunati and the color red.

Last is the Moorish court in blue, led by Baron Amin, desires profit, wives, and most importantly, decadence!

Choose your side wisely.

Entertainment

There is no shortage of entertainment.  Beyond the nobility and pirates roaming the fairgrounds, there are several shows for you to see.

The peasant dance performance is wonderful for all ages, as you watch how the lower class had a good time.  If you want, the dancers may even teach you a few steps.

Watch the kings battle out their enmity on the giant chessboard.  Using people as pawns, they will play a witty and often violent game that will keep you enthralled.

Watch bad actors attempting to perform Shakespeare and then pitch tomatoes at them during the Tomato Show!  Yes, you actually get to pitch tomatoes.

This one isn’t for kids.  At the Tavern, watch pirates and wenches engage in a witty and vulgar battle that will have you rolling in the aisles with laughter.

Shopping

The artisan section has various craftsman and artist selling their wares and you’re sure to find a few things you want to pick up.  From jewelry…
