Alaska Aviation Museum

Vieil avion, pionnier de l’histoire de l’aviation

Anchorage is the hub of Alaska’s aviation, and the Aviation Museum is the ideal outing for families, couples and solo adventurers. Located on the coastline of Lake Hood, home of the most popular seaplane base anywhere around the globe, more than 87,000 takeoffs and landings happen here every year. Just half a mile away is the Ted Stevens International airport. Museum visitors are treated to continuous aircraft activity as they peruse exhibits and displays.

Here, guests are treated to the best Alaska aviation displays in the world, featuring the full history of flight in the Last Frontier. Challenge yourself with immersive displays and take in the artifacts, memorabilia, photographs and films that showcase the state’s innovating aviators.

Taking Flight

Featured aircrafts include the 1928 Stearman C2B, 1929 Keystone-Loening Commuter, 1931 Fairchild Pilgrim 100B and many more. The 1928 Stearman arrived just one year after it was assembled, and has been flown by numerous pilot heroes including Harold Gilliam, Wiley Post, Noel Wien and many more.

Head to the Hall of Fame to see commemorative plaques and information on the yearly awardees starting from 2000.
