The St. Charles Inn is located right in the heart of the famous Garden District, providing hours of sightseeing fun right outside your hotel room door.

Once surrounded by vast plantations and beautiful gardens, the Garden District area was later subdivided as the city grew.  The neighborhood now boasts a combination of early 19th century mansions and late Victorian houses.  The architecture is pristine, and some gardens still remain.

The Historic Lafayette Cemetery #1 is located in the Garden District, and is a great place to take a guided tour.  Featured in numerous films, literature and photography, it is a must-see attraction while you’re in the area. Across the street from this famous cemetery is the Commander’s Palace Restaurant, a New Orleans culinary institution that has been in business since 1880.  Be prepared to enjoy some of the finest cuisine in the world, and don’t forget to bring your camera!

While staying at our New Orleans hotel in the Garden District, take some time to sightsee with the historic St. Charles Avenue Streetcar.  You can even take a romantic carriage ride in the evening to view the antebellum mansions, beautiful gardens and southern charm of the Garden District in uptown New Orleans. The Streetcar route also goes to the French Quarter and the nearby Universities just two miles away, making it easy to get to everything you need without the worry of driving and parking.

The Garden District also offers numerous shopping opportunities, fine dining options, bars and pubs, enough activities to spend your entire vacation there!  The film site of several films including Brad Pitt’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button”, several celebrities have also lived in this famous and beautiful area, including Anne Rice, Nicholas Cage and Sandra Bullock.
