From 9 a.m. \u2013 11 p.m., enjoy a short hike in a naturalist area and learn more about the natural habitat of Newport Bay\u2014as well as the flora and fauna it supports. Birders and photographers are especially in for a great treat.<\/p>\n<p>Upper Newport Bay offers unique tours where you\u2019ll spot a variety of wildlife depending on the weather, docent, and season. During warmer months, you\u2019ll spot open-water skimmers and the sterns that migrate to Southern California for nesting. Colder months reveal grebes, ducks, and shorebirds from Canada. March is the perfect month to spot the transition birds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Back to Nature<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Every Saturday offers a one of a kind tour, so don\u2019t miss out. It\u2019s free (though you may pay for parking) and suitable for all ages and most abilities. Dress in layers and bring good walking shoes and binoculars. After, you can explore the trails at your leisure.
