There\u2019s a debate about what makes the \u201ctraditional\u201d, but common toppings include hot fried shrimp and oysters, softshell crab, crawfish, catfish, Louisiana sausage, roast beef, fried chicken breast, and more. It all depends where you go and who you ask!<\/p>\n<p>In the 1800s, fried oyster sandwiches were cheap and easy to eat on the go. It\u2019s just what workers on a budget needed. One of the most popular New Orleans restaurants to try these is Johnny\u2019s, which has been serving subs since 1965.
