Wednesday at the Square
Every Wednesday through May 18, this free event offers a music and food lineup at Lafayette Square. Louisiana artists break up the mid-week slump with swamp pop, Latin tunes, jazz (of course), rock and more. At the front stage you’ll find dancing, but bring your chairs to mark your own spot on the lawn.
May 4 is The Soul Rebels with Tank and the Bangas. May 11 is Marcia Ball and Mia Borders. The final event on May 18 is a top secret closing act you won’t want to miss. Lafayette Square is part of the pulse of the city, and you’ll find local food and craft vendors peppering the area. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are also readily available.
Hump Day Done Right
The music is free, but all food and drink purchases must be made with tickets sold on site. This is what sponsors this annual event and ensures admission is kept complimentary. As such, please keep any outside food or drinks in your hotel. The 12-week event features two performers, one at 5pm and one at 8pm and in the event of rain will be rescheduled.
Conveniently located by Poydras Street, it’s walkable to many New Orleans hotels. For those who drive, parking is abundant on the street and in garages. Keep in mind that New Orleans street parking only accepts quarters, so bring your change.
