The National WWII Museum

TripAdvisor ranks New Orleans’ National WWII Museum as the best attraction in the city and one of the top museums in the world. Congress dubbed it the official WWII museum, and you’ll find an incredible collection of artifacts that helps visitors of all ages get whisked away to another time. The biggest event of the century left a legacy, and you can explore it via interactive exhibits, guided tours and short-term features.

Discover the D-Day galleries, or slip into the state-of-the-art 4D theater to check out “Beyond All Boundaries.” At the US Freedom Pavilion, you’ll be treated to a one-of-a-kind view. Explore the Boeing Center and more to find out first-hand what heroism was showcased in this impactful event. Plan your visit and choose which exhibits to see first, from the Louisiana Memorial Pavilion that tells of amphibious war landings to the John E. Kushner Restoration Pavilion that gives you a once-in-a-lifetime look at the most precious artifacts.

History Buffs Unite

You certainly don’t need to be a history buff to fall in love with this museum—but it doesn’t hurt! At the Kids Corner, little ones get an immersive experience with the Make Your Own Propaganda Poster and Make Your Own WWII-Era Patch to learning how to message with Navy Flags and solve puzzles.

Currently, the museum is in the midst of a $370 million expansion that will quadruple its size, making it the perfect time to visit! See brand new collections, like the Solomon Victory Theater or watch the Home Front come to fruition. This New Orleans destination is a must for all travelers and will quickly become one of your favorite spots in the city.
