Support Hogs for the Cause
On April 1 and 2, pork, beer and music come together to bring you Hogs for the Cause. It’s the 8th annual event in “City Pork” (City Park) and the nation’s number one fundraiser for children battling pediatric brain cancer. The top musicians in the city gather together with 80+ BBQ competitors from around the world getting “high off the hog” for a cook-off. Louisiana Pork Champions are named at this event.
Champions in six categories are also selected here including best beans and sauces, best meats, and of course the patrons’ choice for Fan Favorite! You can sample delicious fire-roasted fare, vote, and watch chefs go head-to-head with their grills, all while two stages are fired up with music. Join the festival Friday from 3:30pm-9:30pm and Saturday from 11:15am-9:45pm.
Hog Heaven
On April 1, NOLA Brewing Stage features American Aquarium, Dragon Smoke, and Shovels & Rope. Regions Stage will be home to Motel Radio, Great Peacock, and Twiddle. On Saturday, head to NOLA Brewing Stage for Phil Cook, the Deslondes, and the awards presentation at 7:45pm.
Hogs for the Cause was established by New Orleans residents to revive the old-school southern tradition of open pig roasts—and to give back. That year, the founders met four-year-old Ben Sarrat Jr., and they instantly became big supporters for helping those with pediatric brain cancer.
