Runs in New Orleans

There’s no better way to get a fresh perspective on New Orleans than with a challenging race or fun run. November is full of opportunities to get a head start on burning those holiday calories, starting with the Crescent City Fall Classic 5k. The November 4 event kicks off at New Orleans City Park and is a favorite of serious runners needing a qualifier for the Allstate Sugar Bowl starting positions. They also have  kid-friendly races.

PurpleStride New Orleans is next on November 5 with a 5k fun run to support awareness for pancreatic cancer. It’s a family-friendly run/walk option that whisks participants through a gorgeous city park loop. Don your best purple outfit and have a healthy blast while supporting a cause.

Fun Running

The Big Easy Running Festival is one of the biggest races in the city, held on November 18 so you can get in a workout right before the long weekend. Choose from a half marathon, 4-miler, or gentle 1-mile run. Committed to showing another side of New Orleans, it starts on Poydras Street in downtown and finishes at Champions Square.

The Turkey Day Race starts your Thanksgiving day right with your choice of a 5-mile or 1-mile route. Hosted by the local track club, it’s the perfect and healthy way to start a long weekend—and it’s sure to build up an appetite for the main event.
