New Orleans Oyster Festival

New Orleans Oyster Festival

Mark your calendars for June 3 – 4 and experience the New Orleans Oyster Festival! This free, outdoor, two-day event is held next to Jax Brewery, and you’ll find a smattering of complementary events in the French Quarter. Sample local and imported oysters while enjoying competitions, live music, and of course plenty of free tastings. Named after the famous Louisiana Oyster, it’s an event where you can try your hand at speed shucking and eating the city’s beloved aphrodisiac.

Here, you can get six Gulf oysters each paired with a white wine to help pinpoint the best pairing. As part of the Oyster and Wine Tasting and Competition, celebrity judges, including local foodie notables, battle one another to figure out which “couple” is best. Will you agree with their pick?

Fine Dining

The gates open at 10 a.m. on Saturday with the shucking festival at noon. Get a VIP pass for special events and early entry, or simply swing by the Jax Brewery and take advantage of a fun, free annual event. A variety of vendor stalls and food carts will be on site including Party Pirogues, House of TAM with oyster jewelry, and Indigo Graffiti with oyster necklaces, hair accessories and pearl jewelry.

Stop by MacBe Oyster Art and pick up your own masterpiece, or check out The Oyster Bed for all your at-home oyster needs for shucking, “spooning” and more art. Oyster socks and tote bags are at Bonfolk Collective. Come and find your hidden “pearl!”
