New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival
The festival you’ve been waiting for has finally arrived! From April 22-24 and April 28-May 1, the 47th annual Jazz Fest is taking the city by storm. The biggest acts in the world come here for an event like no other at the Fair Grounds Race Course. Everything is here, from jazz to hip hop, pop to zydeco, and rock to funk and indie. Stevie Wonder and Neil Young are just two of the headliners in 2016, joined by Irma Thomas, Trombone Shorty and Irvin Mayfield.
Gospel music is featured in the Gospel Tent by top church and school choirs. Also check out Pearl Jam, Snoop Dogg, Beck, Elvis Costello, Flo Rida, Van Morrison, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more at the biggest jazz fest in the world. However, no New Orleans Festival is complete without plenty of food!
Dig It
Enjoy Cajun, Creole and other local favorites. Desserts, drinks and tapas are available with international appeal. Dozens of food vendors are on site, along with two cooking stages at the grandstand to demo the culinary art of the city. Samples are plentiful, and home cooks, farmers and fishermen are on site to show off their skills.
Art and activities at a cultural marketplace and craft show are also favorite stops. The Mardi Gras Indians can’t be missed! Peruse Congo Square and the African Marketplace, and don’t miss the Louisiana Folklife Village and the Native American Village.
