Merriment Picks

Find treasures galore at this one of a kind shopping experience on Magazine Street. There’s everything you need for gifts, entertainment, decorations and more. Stretching from the CBD all the way to Audubon Park, the historical street is six full miles of wining, dining, shopping, art and fun for the whole family. The event starts on Black Friday and extends through Christmas Eve.

Merriment on Magazine is the perfect way to get ready for the LUNA Fete. It’s one of the most original celebrations in the city. LUNA (Light up NOLA Arts) is a mixture of architecture, video mapping tech, contemporary lighting, motion graphics and sound installation. Free and open to the public, it’s on display from Thanksgiving weekend until New Years.

Previously, the fete utilized community art projects combined with historic spaces. There have been displays in the Central Business District as well as Oretha Castle Haley Boulevard. The festival is all about connectivity within the community and highlighting the unique arts of New Orleans.

Hosted by the Arts Council for New Orleans, it’s the only project that offers landmark architecture as a canvas. You won’t want to miss the incredible outdoor light displays that lead up to the city’s Tricentennial celebration in 2018. Part cultural exchange and part massive gallery, it’s a genuine NOLA experience.
