Jackson Square

Arguably the most famous park in New Orleans, Jackson Square is located at 700 Decatur St. and is walkable from your Garden District hotel. Lined with historic buildings and created in 1721, it’s where you’ll often find live performers and artists, making this a cultural hub of the city. On just 2.5 acres, there’s a surprisingly rich number of items to explore. A national landmark, it’s bound by St. Ann Street, Charles Street, St. Peter Street and Decatur Street.

The park is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. – 7 p.m. in the summer hours. Here, you’ll be treated to views of the Mississippi River. It’s also known as Place d’Armes, and welcomes over two million visitors every year. In 2012, Jackson Square was awarded the title of one of the “greatest places in America” by the American Planning Association.
