Fried Chicken Festival

Fried chicken is just one of New Orleans’ many staple dishes—and one that gets an entire festival to itself. A number of restaurants, chefs and food vendors battle it out amidst live entertainment in Lafayette Square for the title of best fried chicken. In just its second year, the two-day fry-off on September 23-24 is slated to be a delicious competition where the cream of the crop are challenged to make this classic dish their own.

Enjoy live music from local talents and special events like the Fried Chicken Wing Eating Contest. After last year’s success, the organizers are gearing up to make 2017 even bigger, hotter and more delectable. Over 40,000 people flocked to the Square last September, doubling expectations. Now, the party has expanded to offer more space and an extra day of chicken goodness.

Feeling Chicken?

Last year, over $10,000 was donated to local non-profits. The Fried Chicken Festival has claimed the title of biggest first-year attendance of any New Orleans festival, and well over two dozen restaurants are scheduled to compete this year.

Try out the likes of Lil’ Dizzy’s Café, The Company Burger, Diva Dawn, McHardy’s Fried Chicken and much more. Come hungry, join one of the competitions and decide for yourself which contender deserves the title of Best Fried Chicken.
