COOLinary Festival

Keep your cool in the August heat by checking out COOLinary, a foodie paradise that runs the entire month of August. The final lineup is still being decided, and new restaurants are added daily. Each participating restaurant offers specials and unique dishes that showcase the talent of the chefs as well as the culture and history of New Orleans fare. Prix fixe dinner and lunch menus abound around the city, making August the best month to go on a taste tour of the town.

Popular restaurant participants include Andrea’s Restaurant and Catering, Broussard’s Restaurant, Bourbon House, Fulton Street Bistro and Bar, and Royal House Oyster Bar. The chefs are also quick to share some of their favorite recipes, so you can try them out for yourself. It’s a rare opportunity to get the directions for a Cajun-infused, New Orleans meal sure to amaze those back home.

Treat Your Tastebuds

COOLinary takes place during a month of incredible happenings and is the pre-cursor to Restaurant Week in September. Pair your COOLinary happenings with Satchmo SummerFest from August 4-7, a celebration of Louis “Satchmo” Armstrong where live music, parades and a jazz mass at St. Augustine Church will really work up an appetite.

White Linen Night on August 6 is where you’ll drape yourself in white linen and join 16,000+ other art lovers in the Arts District to sip wine and stroll gallery to gallery. The Red Dress Run on August 13 takes runners through the streets of the French Quarter to race towards live music, food vendors and more at the finish line. Where will your appetite take you?
