Coming Up: Black Restaurant Week

Enjoy some of the best food in New Orleans from local black-owned restaurants!

Coming Up: Black Restaurant Week

Starting June 28th, New Orleans will be celebrating the city’s black restaurant entrepreneurs for the second year.  Visit the participating restaurants to try special limited-time dishes or Black Restaurant Week specials.  Also, don’t miss the special events scheduled for the week – a culinary showcase, a panel discussion, and closing out the week with a food truck rodeo!

Some Standout Restaurants

It’s pretty difficult to find bad food in New Orleans, but there are, of course, some restaurants that really stand out.

Check them out for brunch, because one of their Black Restaurant Week special’s is chicken wings with red velvet waffles and it is amazing.  They also will be featuring their oxtail and grits brunch dish, which is cooked perfectly and spiced to perfection.

Heard Dat Kitchen

Heard Dat Kitchen puts a new twist on Creole and Southern food that you definitely want to experience.  Specials will include blackened fish with a decadent lobster cream sauce or fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, and a crawdad cheese sauce that will make your tastebuds explode.

Nosh Culinary Showcase

On June 29th, skip dinner and instead hit the Nosh Culinary Showcase, where you’ll have the opportunity to try food and cocktails from a variety of restaurants, as well as watch cooking demonstrations to pick up some new techniques and recipes.  The food is going to be so good, you’re sure to walk out with a list of places you want to dine in this week.

Soundbites Food Truck Park

On July 6th, come out to see most of NOLA’s black-owned food trucks in one place, serving up great food from their mobile kitchens.  While you eat, enjoy the constant supply of music from local bands and make new friends as you bond over the delicious and saucy ribs.

Take advantage of Black Restaurant Week and the various dishes and specials that will be available, and check out the other amazing activities New Orleans also has to offer!
