Cinco de Mayo in New Orleans
For many, New Orleans is known for great food and great parties—and Cinco de Mayo has both. One of the biggest parties in town is the Festival at El Paso Metairie on both Saturday and Sunday. Head to the popular Mexican restaurant at 601 Veterans Boulevard in nearby Metairie or the Algiers location at 3010 Holiday Drive for live music and a family-friendly DJ. Face painting, giveaways, tequila tastings and more are in store.
The Velvet Cactus is another popular destination with the party stretching from 11 – 11 on Cinco de Mayo. Located at 6300 Argonne Boulevard in Lakeview, enjoy a free concert at 6 p.m. as well as drink and dish specials all day and night.
A Wild Saturday
The fiesta at Felipe’s can’t be missed, especially when there are three locations to choose from. One, at 301 N. Peters St. in the French Quarter, is walkable from your New Orleans hotel. Bands take to the stage until 10 p.m., and taco carts are on site dishing up award-winning plates and plenty of swag.
Other revelers head to Kenner’s Rivertown Heritage Park at 2020 Fourth St. from 6 – 10 p.m. for live music, folklórico dancers, and food from the area’s best Mexican restaurants and food trucks. Kids activities, margaritas, and more are waiting for you.
