Carousel Gardens Amusement Park
For a fun afternoon of thrills, grab the family and head over to the Carousel Gardens Amusement Park. While not a large venue, this quaint amusement park is tucked in the beautiful trees of New Orleans City Park.
The park is known for its namesake antique wooden carousel. A masterpiece of carvers Loof and Carmel, this carousel has gained attention and praise from the National Historic Preservation Society and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of only 100 such carousels in the country and is worth the marvel it gains. Featuring 54 hand-carved animals the centerpiece attraction dates back to the 19th century.
Fun for all ages, this exciting place has rides for the whole family. Enjoy the beautiful sweeping views of the city from high atop the Ferris Wheel. Tickets can be purchased in advance on the Carousel Gardens webpage. Note that rides have a minimum height requirement and children may not be able to ride all rides. Also, dogs are not permitted inside the amusement park.
