Caroling in Jackson Square
Join in one of the local holiday traditions this weekend. Get ready for Christmas and get a good dose of holiday cheer with caroling in Jackson Square. This old time holiday fun brings the community together and spreads Christmas cheer to all. A holiday tradition you don’t want to miss, it was started in 1946 and is still going strong today.
Always held on the Sunday before Christmas, Jackson Square lights up with hundreds of candles as singers pour in to celebrate christmas together. Don’t worry about your singing skills, amateurs and professionals alike enjoy the chance to carol together. Open to the public and free of charge, each year more and more participate making this one of the most enjoyable holiday events in the area.
Candles and song sheets are provided by Patio Planters, a non profit group dedicated to beautification of the French Quarter. Bring yourself, bring a friend and bring your singing voice to join in singing Christmas classics and well known holiday tunes.
The gates to Jackson Square open at 6:30pm and caroling begins at 7:00pm. Due to the number of people in attendance, those who plan to participate are encouraged to arrive early as this is a very popular event and there is a chance capacity will exceed the square.
