Annual Christmas Bonfire Party

What’s more seasonal than cozying up next to a roaring fire and indulging in some holiday treats? This year, the 40th annual Christmas Bonfire Party helps you get into the holiday spirit! On December 3, from 7 p.m. until midnight at the Oak Valley Plantation Big House on Highway 18, you are treated to a holiday festival in one of the most beautiful of Louisiana settings. The mansion is decked out in seasonal floral arrangements, greenery, and fresh fruits—it’s an homage to a traditional Creole Christmas.

Dine on delectable creole and Cajun favorites at the generous buffet. Refresh yourself at the open bar, and shake things up on the dance floor with a live band performing all night. Good cheer is in abundance as you stroll through the famed oak alleyways and explore the antebellum mansion.

A Creole Christmas

From the parking lot, you’re whisked up an illuminated walkway to the rear of the mansion where tour guides dressed in antebellum style greet you. A brass quintet sets the mood on the terrace as you enter the Big House where a catering staff is walking appetizers on fine trays. Head to the food stations located around the mansion, or the main buffet in the formal dining hall.

Menu items include fried crawfish boulettes with creole bistro dipping sauce, hot crab and broccoli dip, fried bacon wrapped shrimp with pepper jelly dipping sauce, Cajun stuffed flounder with lemon beurre blanc, and petite sweets like pecan pralines and chocolate pecan fudge. Hot chocolate, coffee and beignets at 11 p.m. help wrap up the best holiday party of the season.
