Established in 1995 by Friends of Eagle River Nature Center and the Lloyd family, it\u2019s a destination to welcome visitors to Chugach State Park. Rich with natural history education, the non-profit builds and maintains trails and public use facilities. Connecting visitors to nature is at the heart of the organization via outdoor activities and conservation efforts.<\/p>\n<p>A number of public programs help connect visitors and residents to the natural beauty of Anchorage. Junior Naturalist programs are fantastic for extended stay visitors with children, and a number of workshops are available for all ages. From Owl Talk and Walks to workshops on how to build a fire, get hands-on experience and discover what it really means to be part of the Alaskan wilderness.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It\u2019s Only Natural<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Guided hikes and astronomy nights are part of what make this destination so special. School programs and outings are available, and many of the facilities are available to rent for special events. Self-guided trail hikes are readily available, with maps available online or at the visitor center.<\/p>\n<p>Take a nighttime photography course, or listen in on Eskimo storytelling. There\u2019s always something new happening at Eagle River.
